Pocklington 7s

We were represented in both the Men’s and Women’s competition.  The Marvels kicked the day off at 10 beating Selby 22/5 and losing to Wetherby 35/5 in the mini league, in the final the score was a little closer losing 25/5 to Wetherby. Congrats to the them and a big well done to the Marvels for getting a team out without much sevens experience.

In the Men’s comp we had a strong squad assembled by “Coach Tom”.  Playing the in the preliminary round again the lads beat “York saints” 24/22 to get into the main ladder.  Unlike previous years where a loss in round 2 would end our tournament, Meggo surprisingly updated our Instagram with news of a 2nd victory a big one to 36/0 against “Lowground”. Could this team go on and win it, unlike previous squads?

After a little break we were up against “Leeds Beckett” in the quarters who have in previous events knocked us out., hopes we’re high after the strong performances in the day.  Meggo again sent his insta update and a cracking 36/14 victory was had.  Unbelievable we were in the semi-final playing against the remaining 3 premade invitational 7s team.

After watching other local clubs fail to overcome the premades the lads knew it would be a tough game eventually losing out 24/14 to “Pengiuns international”.  Well done to all who pulled on the jersey on Good Friday.

“The Boys did good. Penguins were a touring pro 7’s side and their use of substitutes certainly debatable. Still great effort. Well done Tom Stone for organising the team. Great day out for Malt at the Pock 7’s.”
