On Friday we held our senior awards evening, a very well attended night again despite a double booking of a stag do for a few of the lads.  The evening kicked off with the standard Malton grub a classic steak pie with extras followed by something nice but in all honesty I simply can't remember.

Once everyone was full of food the awards were handed out our seasoned crew of pre drinkers were in full voice and toughly enjoying themselves.  The awards kicked off with Oli the Colts skipper stepping up but without saying much he reminded us who the best team at the club were. Pat, Stu and Phil then followed up for the 3s to hand out their awards with old gags & digs at Marcus for drinking his Guinness Zero. It was Matt Midgley walking away with Player of the season for the 3s. The full list of winners is below.

Possibly the highlight of the evening Harry Skaife had organised the awards for the twos with both Andy & Lummers’ away.  Well it was going to be the highlight of the evening Harry but due to a technical issue his presentation wouldn’t run through the projector despite earlier running a near perfect rehearsal.  A slightly deflated Harry then handed over to Johnsey to hand out 2s awards, His disappointment didn’t last long however as a few moments later He was invited on stage to collect the two’s Player of the Year for the second year in a row, now Skaifey not one to let the team down gave us a brilliant rendition of American Pie.

Once the dust had settled on that, Leah strode to the top to tell us how proud of the Marvels she was and how well they’d performed this season looking to go further next year and win NC3 North (east) following two seasons finishing third.  Similar to last season Nic Pinder collecting the Player of the year.

It then moved on to the ones I must admit I can’t even remember seeing at this point or whether it was Crocks of Triff.  All I do know is after asking the lads Jamie Rounthwaite won the Player of the year.

Liam Vaughan picked up the veteran of the year alongside Byron Marshall who received the youngster or breakthrough of the year.

The Colts picked up the Team of the year award which really was odds on.

Hannah Bennett took a standing ovation from the Marvels for her continued work behind the scenes for their socials.  The Silver Plate Clubman of the winner was I. Like I said before I was lost at this point and finally learnt what it was to be like Meggo before the snooze stage.  Once all that was completed the karaoke was fired up to the sounds of Cassy giving it large to Robbie Williams.

Thank you all for a top night

Cheers all
