St George’s Dinner, Friday 21 April 2023

It is that time of year again and arrangements for this year’s dinner are well in hand. Numbers last year were slightly disappointing, given that it was the first one for 3 years due to the pandemic. Therefore we want to make a big effort this year to get a good cross section of the club attending. We look for tables of a minimum of 10 but will try and accommodate whatever number of tickets you require. Smaller numbers can also be accommodated by combining with others to make up a larger table as there will be a joint of beef on each table. The format will largely follow previous years. The ticket price is £45 per person, a 12.5% increase on last year, due entirely to the sharp increase in inflation over the last 12 months and particularly in the price of beef and general food and catering costs. Dress is black tie and your MC for the evening is the ubiquitous Rob Hicks and our speaker is Jo Rooke. Jo is a TV presenter, farmer’s wife and the face of Omaze. Jo was born and bred in Ryedale and she will be talking about all things British. Jo is pictured below. The timing of the event is 7 for 7.30pm. Please be prompt to avoid overcooked beef. Each table head will need to appoint a carver who needs to bring a sharp knife. Please let me know the number of tickets you require as soon as possible by contacting me as follows.Mobile 07790 516588Email johnmachin5@gmail.comI look forward to hearing from you.
