Malton & Norton Super 2s 45 Scarborough Vikings 8Difficult conditions kept the game tight in the first half with far too many penalties in first 15 resulting in scarborough taking first points off a penalty. Malton immediately got back into the game after a great kick into the corner from Finlinson followed up by Captain Clarke to go over for our first try of the game.
Scarborough found some luck straight after the kickoff following some indecision in our own 22 gifting Scarborough a try in the corner This seemed to be the only real pressure from the visitors for the rest of the game as the forwards started to settle into the game and dominate allowing the backs to run, firstly with a great line from Stu Collins which put us in on the opposition 5m where the forwards took the initiative and Pete Hopkin’s powered over.Given the conditions where heavy under foot it didn't slow down the backs with our 3rd try of the first half with a great ball out the back and Tenge running from deep breaking the Scarborough line going wide and putting Jake Hopkin in under the posts
1st half finished with Pete Hopkins off on a yellow for a late hit.2nd half started as we finished 1st ..On top from the whistle and with the run of play down hill we had a lot more energy than Scarborough, which showed when Tenge showing his strength with a pick and go from the ruck, put Rory in through the middle for his try.
The following 30 mins was made up of really dominant rugby in all areas - scrum, lineout and at the breakdowns.
