Many of you will have seen the excitement around our Marvels & Girls teams this weekend as they celebrated receiving their new kits in preparation for what we anticipate to be the biggest season yet for Malton and Norton RUFC. It’s not just the men’s teams growing—our 2nd XV is moving up to the Yorkshire Merit Championship, while our 3rd XV transitions from a social squad to a semi-serious team in the EY Merit League, we would love a discussion about starting a 4ths, summer 7s and maybe even a senior T1 team….. Meanwhile, our AG teams remain strong, with plenty of future stars in the making.
With the success of the Red Roses, an upcoming Home World Cup, and our commitment to in-school rugby development, we are confident that our Marvels & Girls teams will continue to thrive. Over the past season, we’ve welcomed over 24 new girls to the club—while not all have made it onto the pitch yet, we believe that’s the easy part. The word is spreading about what we’re building and the invaluable life lessons rugby provides. In every school session, kids are now talking about players like Jamie George, Fin Smith, and even—surprisingly—Lawrence Dallaglio!
We’d like to take a moment to express our gratitude to our recent shirt sponsors for the Marvels & Girls teams: Willowgreen Estate Agents, Leoni’s Coffee House, Dales, Rodgers Nurseries, Gilbert Engineering, and AB Services. Your support means so much, and our players wear their kits with pride.
A special thanks also to James from O’Neill’s for delivering all three kits just in time for our W&G Super Sunday, we know he went above and beyond to pull the Marvels kit in for sunday thank you to onlines for making it happen.
For our new families, you may have noticed two additional logos on our kits, representing two causes very close to our hearts:
🔹 The Rob Stephenson Trust – www.robstephensontrust.com
Rob was a talented young sportsman whose life was tragically cut short in 2016. A dedicated hooker for our Super Twos, he always made time to return from Newcastle Agri Uni to play. His family set up the trust in his honour to help young people around the world experience the joy, camaraderie, and friendships that sport brings.
🔹 The Tom Parsons Trust – The Tom Parsons Trust Facebook
Later that same year, Tom sadly passed away while on holiday in Zante due to undiagnosed myocarditis. His parents, Sue and Nick, established the trust to raise awareness of myocarditis, support the British Heart Foundation, and fund lifesaving defibrillators. Known to the seniors as "Worm" for his ability to pop up anywhere, Tom had all the qualities of a future club captain and multiple-time Clubman of the Year.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support—we’re excited for what lies ahead!
