M&NRUFC is an amateur club with fantastic facilities! This isn’t by luck; the club has, over the years, worked very hard to develop, improve and grow.
This is not cheap! All the monies to pay for improvements must be raised, from members, sponsors and grants/loans from the RFU.
It’s not just the facilities, rugby in the club is run by volunteers, in the youth section alone we have more than 90 people who give up their time freely so that our youngsters get a great Rugby experience. Every one of our 14 youth teams, from U6 to U18, have qualified coaches, they have helpers, a team manager, qualified first aiders (all DBS cleared) sponsors and in some cases photographers! We also have a group of volunteer qualified referees who will turnout on a Sunday morning to referee teams from U13 up.
The 4 senior sides are no different, volunteers are needed, many of whom are past players. Look at a busy home game, the pitch looking perfect, flags and post protectors out, the kit collected from the cleaners, changing rooms clean, people collecting the entrance money, programmes printed, car parkers, shop open, water bottles filled, equipment out for the warm up and then there are the jobs after the game!
Behind the scenes at M&N there is also a group of volunteers that can be found at the club. The changing rooms are cleaned, twice a week the grounds team are in action, cutting the grass, marking the lines, emptying the bins, cleaning up, cutting back the hedges, fixing the fences, painting, and generally fixing anything that needs fixing.
Some of this work is skilled, some is simple (but no less important), but all of it needs to be done for our club to run. The question is CAN YOU HELP?
Do you have a skill that might be useful, do you work for a company that might be able to provide stuff or expertise, or do you have some time on your hands and feel that you could help? If the answer is yes or even maybe, we would like to hear from you.
If it is one of the youth teams you want help with please talk to your lead coach or someone with the team or talk to Ben or Sally. Working with children is slightly different, you might be asked to fill in a volunteer application form (below) and complete a DBS.
If it’s coaching and/or refereeing you are interested in the club will pay for courses so you can gain the relevant RFU qualifications.
