Today we should have had teams heading over to Huddersfield YMCA, Selby and one welcoming Selby which would close out our 19/20 league campaign bringing down the curtain of Crebs’ tenure as head coach and Webby’s dual roles as Chair of Rugby and forwards coach. Thank you to them for their time, passion and knowledge over the past decade.

I’m sure many will already know who is to be appointed by the committee as head coach but until it is fully signed off I’ll mention no names.  Looking forward we have our club AGM arranged on the 3rd of June we are doing this via an online platform probably ZOOM. (More details including codes and passwords to be released later).

At the AGM our club volunteers on the committee put themselves up for re-election and anyone willing/wanting to step up and help run the club are encouraged to contact Gill at pycock.gill4@gmail.com. Again more details to be released soon.

From the social committee unfortunately the Summer Ball looks to be postponed until further notice. In the meantime any fundraising for the club is more than welcome and extra functions during the winter may need volunteers to help support the club as a whole.

Membership to the club this past season has been at an all-time high we thank nearly everyone* for making the commitment, subscription costs were reduced and parent’s membership were (free). The committee has decided to freeze the prices for the coming season and membership for next season opens 1st of June giving everyone 2 months a (pre-purchase window before it’s due).

*we still have some stragglers due and the committee know of them and will be in touch once the rugby action returns.

On the back of increased membership and just how shocking the weather was in mid-winter the committee has taken the bold move to mole drain pitch 4 and are to cut new drains in to pitch 2 which does get the most use.  Hopefully the increased capacity of the drains on pitch 2 will also stop the build-up on pitch 3 but time will tell. All pitches are again are been re-seeded.

We have opened up Life Membership which can be bought NOW from only £100 a month for 10 months until the balance is paid.  We understand the struggles of many at the moment but anyone who can help our club this could be the perfect way. You can sign up and pay here (ignore the renewal date).

Next season the 1st will be in North 1 East after the RFU formulas relegated our friends Percy Park. The league will be as follows

Morpeth, Ilkley, Cleckheaton, Moortown, Driffield, Morley, Pocklington, Scarborough, Us, Bradford and Bingley, Durham City, Consett, Old Brodleians, Heath.

(Kendal will more than likely move over to North 1 west)

The 2s will continue in the East Yorkshire Merit League under the guidance of Rich John.  The 3s continue with their current format but are looking to progress into a more regular team, playing numbers dependant.

We understand the Marvels will continue in their league after making good progress during this past season.

Congratulation to the Colts who were champions of their league and hopefully will progress into the seniors and perform.

The club has a place for anyone wanting to play rugby.

We aren't sure when rugby will return all we can say is stay healthy, support your family and make every effort to support our family.

More club updates will be published later.

Stay Safe
