I’m sure most will already know about our growth off the field, our blossoming partnership with Malton School over the past season has allowed us to install a P.E. teaching assistant within the school.  We’ll things have been in motion since around Christmas when our long term vision of 6th form rugby academy was mentioned to our local secondary schools with Malton School expressing an interest to run the curriculum side of the newly titled Malton & Norton Rugby Academy.

Together the school and us have things in place to start the academy from September and I’ve been told this will be open to students studying 6th form, B-Tec and sports leaders courses at Malton School.

With this new partnership comes new opportunities as we are now have a full time vacancy for an Academy Director to lead the rugby program side of course. More details about the role can be found below.

Coinciding with finding a new Rugby academy director we are looking out for a full time teaching assistant to again join Malton School with a view to play on a Saturday for us.  We also have other full time trade roles for players wanting to either join us locally or travel from further a field.

Director of Rugby Richard John who has spent 4 years as our club development officer said. “This is the vision we had when I stepped into the role of C.D.O in the summer of 2019 and now along with chair Russell Stead and head coach Alex Crockett we have taken the bold move to get this exciting project up and running.

This isn’t for the club to have automatic success, this is ensuring the future of Rugby Union in Ryedale an ever growing platform for local children to develop into future players we can be proud of firstly in Malton & Norton kit maybe donning the colours of their country. Who knows!.”
