Malton and Norton RUFC would like to take this opportunity to thank Lana Cox who has for the last fifteen years managed and run the club’s kitchen.
At the end of this season Lana will hang up her apron, peel off her gloves, and take a well earned rest. All club members old and young, especially those who know Lana personally and have worked alongside her would like to offer their sincere thanks for her sterling efforts and wish her the best in retirement. During her time she has prepared and served thousands of pre match lunches, teas for the three senior male teams and the senior ladies team together with their visiting opposition as well as the growing girls section of the club. Lana has been ever present on most Sunday mornings catering for the hundreds of Age Grade ( minis and juniors) players and parents, the above numbers increased by visiting clubs.
Lana when asked by the Club Chair Russell Stead how it feels to be a vital cog in the smooth operation of the club replied with the following: “I have really enjoyed being a part of this rugby club, cooking and serving for members, players, sponsors, their visiting opponents, and all their guests. It has always been great fun and I have loved being a part of such a friendly and welcoming club. Working in the kitchen has never felt like a chore due to the teamwork and support from everyone around me, and my involvement in the club’s hospitality team has been something I had valued over the years “ .
Lana would like to express a special thanks to Christine Rushworth the club’s bar manager for all her assistance and friendship over the years, as well as a huge thank you to all the young girls and boys who have worked alongside her. “ I am sure that the confidence they have gained working as part of the team will stand them in good stead for their futures. Their energy and enthusiasm has meant a lot to me and I am very grateful for the times shared working with these youngsters “
On behalf of the club both Peter Elwess, the outgoing Club President and myself as Chair hope that Lana will pop in as often as she can to catch up with all the friends and acquaintances she has made over the fifteen years.
